321Honda Brio-Based Compact SUV '2SJ' Comes to India For Testing Purpose

After ending the financial year 2014-15 on a happy note, Honda Cars India is now aiming to further increase its market share in the country by launching multiple new and facelifted cars in the next 2 years. The products that Honda will roll out this year include the new-generation Honda Jazz, and Honda Amaze facelift. Whereas, the new-generation Accord and a compact SUV will arrive next year. The company has, in fact, imported 3 units of a Brio-based compact SUV to India, codenamed 2SJ, for testing purpose.

Expected to be launched by the end of 2016 or early 2017, the vehicle's research and development work might take place at the company's upcoming R&D center in Greater Noida. Though rumours claimed that Honda's compact SUV will be sub-4 metre in length, we believe it will be as big as the Mobilio since it will take on the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Hyundai Creta, all of which measure above 4.2 metre. Also, since the company has already built the Mobilio (over 4.3 metre in length) on the Brio platform, developing a compact SUV with the same platform shoudln't be a concern for Honda.

New-generation Honda Accord to Launch in 2016

Honda, the Japanese automaker, has confirmed that it will launch the new-generation Accord luxury sedan in India in 2016. The President and CEO of Honda Cars India (HCI), Katsushi Inoue said that the company is planning to re-introduce Accord, and its hybrid version in the Indian market. 

The premium sedan was discontinued in 2013 due to poor demand in the segment. With an aim to improve its segment shares, Honda will re-introduce the 9th generation of the Accord, which was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.

Coming to the design, the new-gen Accord will feature a larger chrome grille, LED detailing on the headlight enclosures, modified front and rear bumpers, an integrated rear spoiler and chrome headlights for rear bumper and bootlid. For the American market, the saloon might get a tuned V6 engine with direct injection system and a new 9-speed automatic transmission.

Honda Jazz Car Booking

Honda Car India will launch the much-awaited new Jazz hatchback in the country on July 8, 2015. Ahead of its launch, Honda dealers have started taking pre-orders for the new Jazz at a token amount of INR 21,000. The company has already started teasing the hatchback through its official social media pages and website.

Unlike the previous model; the new Jazz will be made available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol version will get a 1.2-litre i-VTEC unit producing 87bhp, the oil burner will be a 1.5-litre i-DTEC motor that is good for 99bhp and 200Nm of torque. While the petrol engine will be paired to either five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT transmission, the diesel-powered Jazz will get a five-speed or a six-speed manual.
