How To Boost Your Vehicle’s Performance

Our mentality always tends to expect maximum output from minimum input. We often come across queries of how to boost up vehicle performance? MY Vehicle is Not Performing? and all. Hence we thought of giving you some tips to clear out the air by sharing our thoughts. The most common myth is that vehicle performance increases by tweaking up of engine and by Car Servicing; which is an absolute wrong thought. Agreed that vehicle performance is mainly because of engine and transmission but there are other things which also contribute significantly. We will suggest you various methods of increasing your vehicle’s performance and it’s you choice to choose the one which fits into your budget. This information can be used both two and four wheelers Users.

Engine – It’s well known that engine is the heart of any automobile. What kind of boosting can be done on an engine?

• Performance Air Filter – The most common way of increasing the performance of the vehicle. The greater pore size will allow more airflow into the engine which enhances combustion; hence better output.

• Performance Exhaust System – Exhaust systems also play crucial role during the power delivery. A smooth free flow exhaust system ensures that performance increases.

• ECU Tuning – This one is applicable only for vehicles with an ECU. Aftermarket performance ECU’s yield superior performance from the vehicle.

• Higher valve lift via camshaft – Now this needs some special skills to work on. Design and machining of camshaft is difficult but if done properly, performance increases comprehensively. This should be done by people with good knowledge.

• Ram Air Intake – Now this one is a little tricky but it can be done by using some basic engineering. Increasing the pressure in the inlet manifold using the dynamic behaviour of the vehicle.

Tyre and Tyre Related – Performance can be rated both on speed, acceleration as well as handling.

• For better handling make sure that one chooses a better tyre size, profile and thread before selecting one. In the market one would get plenty of options but the ultimate choice will lay with the customer and his/her requirements.

• For bikes – Top speed of a bike can be increased if one changes the sprocket ratio. One can get aftermarket sprocket set which comes with a chain too. Smaller sprocket will increase top speed but the torque will be compromised.

Myth Of Increasing Performance -

• Higher Octane/Cetane number fuel will not boost the vehicle’s performance until and unless the engine is running on high compression.

• Cold Air Intake System – Cold air intake system improves the performance of a vehicle but it is barely noticeable. The reason for that, the drop in temperature of air after the usage of cold air intake system is small which hardly boosts up any performance.

Honda Cars India Ltd. 40% sales growth in July 2014

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, recorded a monthly domestic sales of 15,709 units in July 2014 registering a growth of 40%. The company sold 11,223 units in the corresponding month last year.

The company sold 56,427 units from April – July'14 as against 40,350 units sold during the same period last year, marking a growth of 40%.

Expressing delight on the company's performance Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing &Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, "We are extremely happy with the progress we have made in this year. Our recently launched Honda Mobilio has received good response from the market with over 10,000 bookings since its launch and are confident that it will attract more customers with its strong desirable values. We would also like extend our gratitude to the customers for the continuing success of Honda Amaze and All new City and are confident that we will continue to do well in respective segments."

HCIL also exported a total volume of 858 units during July 2014.

The Honda Mobilio has certainly pleased many even before the launch and is expected to continue the success streak after the Amaze and City sedans in India. The front-wheel drive 7-seater Honda Mobilio to be a leader in the MPV segment and has also turned out to be the most fuel efficient vehicle in its segment of Cars in India.

The Honda Mobilio Car is powered by the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and returns a fuel efficiency of 17.3 km/l. The engine produces 119 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque. The diesel variant on the other hand is powered by the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine with ‘Earth Dreams’ technology of honda cars that produces 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque and returns a fuel efficiency of 24.2 km/l. With the Launch on July 23 Honda Mobilio will be the most fuel efficient MPV in the country. Both Diesel and Petrol Models are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.


The interiors of the Honda Mobilio car are similar to that of the other Honda cars with beige being the predominant colour. The front two rows will certainly be spacious with a foldable third-row that can either accommodate children or make way for extra luggage.

The music system of Honda Mobilio will be similar to that of the City sedan and it will have to be seen whether the touch screen AC panel will be fitted on the higher trims. 

The safety features of Honda Mobilio will be up to the mark – ABS-EBD will be standard on all except the base variant and, at least the top two variants will get front airbags. Seated on a wheel base of 2,650 mm, Honda Mobilio will be available in four variants on offer namely E, S, V and V(O).

Honda Cars India Ltd. registers 18% sales growth in May 2014

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, recorded a monthly domestic sales of 13,362 units in May 2014 registering a growth of 18% owing to the success of the all new Honda City and strong sales momentum for Honda Amaze. The company sold 11,342 units in the corresponding month last year. 
 
HCIL registered an overall growth of 23% during the period April – May 2014 with 24,402 units as against 19,830 units during the corresponding period last year.
